Artist Statement

My art is highly personal, motivated by the satisfaction of losing myself in both the creative and analytic energies of the artistic process. 

 

Inspired by places I’ve been or have imagined, I translate details I've observed in natural and man-made environments into images made solely from fabric.  I explore how the prints, colors, and textures of fabric, as well as their intersections, overlaps, edges and layers, can work together to communicate my experience of a place.

 

This leaves the viewer with a two-fold experience: first, they appreciate the image as a whole scene, only to notice moments later the visceral pleasure of realizing how it was created.
